Objectives

• To create digital library of Marathi and in other languages using Greenstone • To translate Greenstone in Marathi • To create digital library in Marathi language

Requirements

Hardware

• Pentium I onwards

Software

• Operating system : ( – Microsoft windows – language pack to install Indic languages including Arial Unicode Ms font • IIS server / personal web server • Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2000/XP • All necessary software to run greenstone such as greenstone 2.71 http://www.greenstone.org/cgi-bin/library?e=p-en-download-utfZz 8&a=p&p=download )

Requirements for Translation Spreadsheet

Excel spreadsheet provided by Greenstone developers, that contains all the English text strings, with empty cells for the translation. OR

Greenstone Translator's Interface (GTI)

– GTI at http://puka.cs.waikato.ac.nz/cgi bin/gti/library?a=gti&p=home – Login and password to access GTI provided by greenstone developers

Procedure

• Following Microsoft Excel Sheets provided by Greenstone developers for translation into Marathi : – Greenstone Interface (Core) – Greenstone Interface (Auxiliary) – GLI Dictionary – GLI Help – Perl Modules – Greenstone.org

Implementation

• Translated Excel sheets sent to Greenstone developer team for conversion of the same into .dm files • Placement of .dm files into appropriate directories • Setting up preferences of language from GLI (Greenstone Librarian Interface)
