SUMMER CAMP «BALTIC GUARDS»
The youth summer camp «Baltic Guards» takes place annually
in the Baltic States. The following youth guard organizations
participate in the camp: The «Jaunsardze» (Latvia),
«Kodututred» and «Noored Kotkad» (Estonia), and «Šaulių
sąjunga» (Lithuania). The camp aims to strengthen regional
identity, develop youth leadership skills, involve them in crisis
simulations, raise their awareness for security and defence
policy, international security challenges and NATO, as well as
foster the development of the Baltic States youth guard
movement and their cooperation.

 «Jaunsardze» (Latvia) ― 30 cadets
 Youth from Jelgava`s district (Latvia) ― 30 cadets
 «Kodututred» and «Noored Kotkad» (Estonia) ― 30 cadets
 «Šaulių sąjunga» (Lithuania) ― 30 cadets
 Army Cadet Force (UK) ― 20 cadets
MAIN ACTIVITIES:
August 10 ―
introduction of camp’s participants to each
other, ice-breaking through games.
August 11 ―
orientation competition in Ložmetējkalns`
area (Machine Gun Hill is an historical object of national
importance – the only area in Latvia that is restricted for cultural
and historical purposes. There is unique evidence here of
World War I fortifications and the so-called Christmas Battle
that was fought here. Today Ložmetējkalns has become a
symbol of the heroic spirit and it serves as a memorial to the
Latvian Riflemen.
MAIN ACTIVITIES:
August 12 ― day of great adventures:
competition in Movie Town «Cinevilla».
A visit to the movie town is like stepping into a time machine –
you will see how Rīga looked about a hundred years ago.
Close by there is a church, historical bridges, the market place,
stone paved streets, the Daugava riverbank with ships, the
tram line, military equipment and other props, offering you a
glance of the ins and outs of filmmaking.The construction of the
site began in 2004 for shooting the historical motion picture
Rīgas sargi, (Defenders of Rīga), the most expensive Latvian
film ever. The movie tells the story of the Latvian War of
Independence.

Jelgava city.
