4
1.
Subscriber dials 911
2.
Call is routed from CO to Tandem/Selective Router – ANI is sent with the call
3.
Selective Router determines the correct PSAP
4.
The ANI/ALI Controller requests the ALI associated with the ANI from the ALI
Database
5.
The call is routed to the PSAP Agent Telephone and the ALI Data is routed to
the Agent Workstation

Information sent by Avaya CM:
CO Trunks:
– Number associated with CO Trunk Group
– Associates to physical location where trunk terminates
ISDN/PRI Trunk:
– Depends on CM translations & LEC Administration
• Possibilities: DID, Main BTN, LDN
• Specific location details by DID can be administered

Key Requirements of e911
Avaya CM must send out the correct ten-digit ANI
Outgoing trunks must be provisioned to send the ANI
ALI Database must be accurate & maintained
Considerations for Implementing an e911
strategy:
Where is the caller located?
What trunk type is used for 911 routing to PSAP?
What PSAP serves the specific location?
What information is sent with the call?

IP Addressing Data in PBX
If you populate the IP Address Mapping screen with emergency numbers, the feature
functions as follows:
● If the Emergency Location Extension field in the Station screen is the same as the
Emergency Location Extension field in the IP Address Mapping screen, the feature
sends the extension to the Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP).
● If the Emergency Location Extension field in the Station screen is different from the
Emergency Location Extension field in the IP Address Mapping screen, the feature
sends the extension in the IP Address Mapping screen to the Public Safety Answering
Point (PSAP).
