I do not understand what I do. For
what I want to do I do not do, but what I
hate I do.
17 As it is, it is no longer I myself who do
it, but it is sin living in me.
18 I know that nothing good lives in me,
that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the
desire to do what is good but I cannot
carry it out.
19 For what I do is not the good I want to
do; no, the evil I don’t want to do – this I
keep on doing.
Romans 7:15, 1719
So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will
not gratify the desires of the sinful nature.
For the sinful nature desires what is
contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what
is contrary to the sinful nature.
Galatians 5:16-17
You see, at just the right time, when we
were still powerless, Christ died for the
ungodly…. But God demonstrates His
own love for us in this: while we were still
sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:6,8
What causes fights and quarrels among
you? Don’t they come from your desires
that battle within you?
James 4:1
Sin entered the world through one man,
and death through sin, and in this way
death came to all men, because all
sinned.
Romans
5:12
As in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be
made alive.
1 Corinthians 15:22
The gift (Jesus) is not like the
trespass (Adam). Romans 5:15

5:15 many died
The result of Jesus:
5:16 judgment,

justification
5:17 death reigned
reign in life
5:18 condemnation

Sinful nature.
In Adam.
In Christ.
Sinful nature.
In Adam.
In Christ.
1) I believe that I was born “in Adam” and
with a sinful nature.
2) I believe that when I put my faith in
Christ, God moved me from “in Adam”
to “in Christ.”
3) I believe that because I am “in Christ” I
have the potential to reign over sin and
be free.
