Two Opposing Love Languages
What is your love
language?
Comparing Love Languages
“You have fallen from grace.”
It’s Christ alone +
nothing else for
salvation
What does Galatians say to
us today?
What do we sometimes add to the
redeeming work of Jesus Christ on the
cross for our salvation?
GUILT????
Jane – A Case Study
Her anti-gospel is that life and
forgiveness come through
Christ plus not having an
abortion.
Faith & Law
The law wasn’t meant to
save you!
Galatians 3:21-23
“Is the law, therefore, opposed to the promises
of God? Absolutely not! For if a law had been
given that could impart life, then
righteousness would certainly have come by
the law. But the Scripture declares that the
whole world is a prisoner of sin, so that what
was promised, being given through faith in
Jesus Christ, might be given to those who
believe. Before this faith came, we were held
prisoners by the law, locked up until faith
should be revealed.”
What Paul says to the
Galatians
“Grace and peace to you from God our
Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who
gave himself for our sins to rescue us
from the present evil age, according to
the will of our God and Father, to whom
be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
Antinomianism
It basically means since we are under
grace, we can do anything we want
now, including gratifying the sinful
nature.
It’s about a
person, a
redeemer!
Galatians 5:16-18
16So I say, live by the Spirit, and
you will not gratify the desires
of the sinful nature. 17For the
sinful nature desires what is
contrary to the Spirit, and the
Spirit what is contrary to the
sinful nature.
Another version says it this way, ‘For the
desires of the flesh (flesh in this
context means the sinful nature within
human beings) are against the Spirit,
and the desires of the Spirit are against
the flesh, for these are opposed to each
other.’ They are in conflict with each
other, so that you do not do what you
want. 18But if you are led by the Spirit,
you are not under law.
“Strong faith
doesn’t mean
you walk
effortlessly
through life. It
means you
run quickly to
Christ when
you’re in
need.”
Romans 8:12-14
12Therefore, brothers, we have an
obligation—but it is not to the sinful
nature, to live according to it. 13For if
you live according to the sinful nature,
you will die; but if by the Spirit you put
to death the misdeeds of the body, you
will live, 14because those who are led
by the Spirit of God are sons of God.
Galatians 5:19-21
19The acts of the sinful nature are obvious:
sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery;
20idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord,
jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition,
dissensions, factions 21and envy;
drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you,
as I did before, that those who live like this
will not inherit the kingdom of God.
Idolatry and
Witchcraft
James 4
“What causes fights and
quarrels among you? Don’t
they come from your desires
that battle within you? You
want something but don’t get
it.”
“Have you
noticed that
no books
promise to
help produce
people who
esteem
others.”
Addictions
“To reinforce the similarities between yourself
and the addicted person, remember that
Scripture does not make drunkenness-the
prototype for addictions-a sin that stands
above all others. Instead, drunkenness is
placed alongside “ordinary” sins such as
jealousy, selfish ambition, and envy. These
more commonplace sins are familiar to us
all. With this in mind, you now come to the
addict as a brother or sister, not as an expert
who has personally conquered all of your
personal sin patterns.”

ABUNDANT LIFE
“You will only find yourself as you find
Him. We must grow to see that real
living is experienced when we stand
before God and say, “Whom have I in
heaven but you? And earth has nothing
I desire besides you.” Psalm 73:25
Our Lord’s Love
Language
22But the fruit of the Spirit is
love, joy, peace, patience,
kindness, goodness,
faithfulness, 23gentleness and
self-control. Against such
things there is no law.
“Those who belong to Christ Jesus have
crucified the sinful nature with its
passions and desires.”
Summary
Do we realize how dangerous we are?
And do we realize how glorious God
can make us? Your love language is
either a selfish love or a selfless love.
One passion is dangerous and keeps
us in bondage. The other passion sets
us free to love God and others.
