CPA – Information Sheet
Activities
• Activities are the separate parts of a project,
that require time and resources.
• The arrows which represent the activities are
frequently given letters, so that each activity
can be easily identified. The duration of each
activity is written below the arrow.
• The arrows show the sequence of the
activities necessary to complete the project
Nodes
• Nodes are the start or end of each activity.
• Each node is numbered in the left-hand segment; the
top right-hand segment gives the earliest start time
(EST); the lower right-hand segment gives the latest
finish time (LFT).
• The EST is the first time at which an activity can be
started.
• The LFT states the time by which the activity must be
finished if the entire project is to be completed on
schedule and not to be delayed.
