Dating back all the way to 300bc
• Where the abacus
was first used.
• It’s amazing how far
they’ve come.
In the
first watch was
created.
• It was created by a
man named Peter
Henlein. A native from
Germany.
• Now watches are
worth thousands of
dollars.
• Was the year that Germanys Wilhelm
Schickard invented the first known
mechanical calculating machine.

• Gabriel Fahrenheit
discovered
Fahrenheit standard
in 1724. Electricity
was first found by
Benjamin Franklin in
1780.
In the 1800’s there was a HUGE
jump!
• In 1804 the “Punch card computer” was
invented and finished by Frances JosephMarie Jacquard. 1838 the “Morse Code”
was created. 1876 the “Telephone” was
created by Alexander Graham Bell. And in
1877 the “Microphone” was invented by
Emile Berliner.
• 1921 the first radio shack was opened
• 1930 Motorola was opened
• 1947 F.C Williams memory system was
first in working order.
• 1949 the first computer company
“Electronic Controls Company” was
opened.
• 1963 the first computer mouse was
invented.
The Floppy Disk and Internet
• 1967 the floppy disk was invented by IBM and
is almost out of business because of the new
flash drives.
• 1969 the internet was put out on press by
UCLA college.
The Flash drive
• The flash drive has taken the place of the
floppy disk and is more compatible than a
floppy disk. They hold more space than a
box of floppy disk combined. They are also
smaller and easier to carry around.
Computers at school and at home.
• At home the
computers is used at
almost every
household. It is used
everywhere. You can
type a story, play a
game, surf the web
and chat with friends.
At school most people
use the computer for
research and other
school projects.
How is the Computer used at work
and in Industries?
• Management, financial, sales and
occupations, farming, fishing and forestry,
transportation, and production are some of
the businesses that use computers.
• In many companies the computer is used
to keep track of information, and in some
industries it is used to help build things.
• Such as cars and electronics.
Does the computer help? Or does it
hurt?
• The computer can help with research and
there are many educational web sites. Of
course with anything you do there is
always someone or something bad to
follow. As parents or teachers you can
block web sites to keep the internet safe.
There always is time for a kid to be a kid
and that is why there are game websites
that can be educational at the same time
the child is having fun.
Making a difference
• The computer has come a
long way in technology, it
has helped the world get
to where it is now.
Without the computer
the world would be a
completely different
place.
