▪ Consider them when you make entries
▪ You may wish to refer to them eg “I feel this entry

Reflection
What does reflection mean?
Reflection is learning to look at yourself and
your experiences from the outside.
Why?
What?




did you do?
was difficult?
did you learn?
else could you
have
done?
How?



did you feel?
did everyone else feel?
did you communicate
to colleagues?
was it difficult
did you do it?
might you do something
different next time?

More Entries
Significant Events: always be on the look out for
things that might have gone wrong (near misses) or
that could be improved. Any complaints affecting the
team, not just you.
Easy entries: reading / tutorials / seminars / lectures /
e-learning. More of a simple record but still consider
WHAT you learnt and HOW you can apply it. These
look all the more impressive if linked to PDP!
PDP
Needs to be SMART
Specific
Measurable
Achievable
Relevant
I want to learn about the Red Eye
I will do an on-line study module
Not 1 week ophthalmology course
Not learning about cataract
op
techniques
Timely
I will do it within 2 weeks
TIPS
➲
Just do it!
–
➲
Use it often
–
➲
Little and often better than big infrequent entries.
Care with writing is important
–
–
–
➲
Don't worry too much; just write stuff!
The EP is a form of communication. It needs to be
legible and understandable.
Re-read your entries before you “share” them.
Check for misspellings and typos.
