ARF DiREx
•
The most inclusive simulation exercise in the Asia Pacific
region.
•
The 2015 ARF DiREx will be the fourth in a landmark series
of exercises designed to enhance the effectiveness of
regional disaster response operations.
•
Previous exercises:
o Luzon Island, Philippines (2009)
o Manado, Indonesia (2011)
o Cha-am, Phetchaburi, Thailand (2013)

LESSONS LEARNED FROM ARF
DiREx 2013
•
Need to further strengthen cooperation and
enhance
interoperability
and
civil-military
coordination at the strategic, tactical and
operational levels.
•
Strengthen the functions of AHA Centre and other
mechanisms (eg: AADMER, SASOP) in the region.
•
Exercise should be more realistic and effective.

TTX to have a more elaborate command and
coordination corresponds with real situation
•
The mode of TTX is role play in responding to specific
incidences.

AIMS & OBJECTIVES
•
Capacity building and enhancement of civil-military
coordination in response to disasters
•
Further improve the progress made at previous
exercises in multinational disaster response
•
Address disaster relief issues at the strategic, tactical
and operational levels.
•
To evaluate existing SOPs/protocols/tools available
in ASEAN, regional, international, and the affected
nation.
