HISTORY OF FRANCE
• The name “France” comes from
Latin Francia, which literally means
“land of the Franks” or “Frankland”.
• Another proposed etymology is that
in an ancient Germanic language,
Frank means free as opposed to
slave.

• Monarchy ruled france until the French revolution in 1789
• Napoleon Bonaparte seized control of the republic in
1799,making himself first consul and later emperor.

FRANCE,ENGLAND AND RUSSIA.

• THE LONG TERM RESULTS WERE THAT FRANCE
LACKED SUFFICIENT MANPOWER TO ENGAGE IN A
FULL FRONTAL WAR WITH THE GERMANS WHEN
THEY INVADED IN WWII. THAT IS WHY THEY HAD
TO TURN TO A GUERILLA WARFARE MODEL IN
WWII
• IN WWII IN NOVEMBER 1942,GERMANY FINALLY
OCCUPIED FRANCE,WHICH WAS LIBERATED BY
ALLIED COUNTRIES IN 1944.
