Szczecinek is one of the most dynamically developing cities in Poland. The
concept of sustainable development adopted by the City and District
authorities has resulted in numerous investments in technical and social
infrastructure of the region,
Organisation of water and wastewater management, redevelopment of the
city transportation system and development of the investment land within
the "Szczecinek Area" of the Special Economic Zone are the major projects
carried out using EU funds and with an enormous commitment of the local
government's own resources,
The specific location of the city (three lakes within its administrative
boundaries) makes it not only an attractive investment area, but also
creates opportunities for active recreation and tourism,

INDUSTRY IN THE DISTRICT
 The natural location of Szczecinek favours the development of the wood,
furniture and food industries,
 The city has a rich tradition in the development of plants in the IT,
electrical engineering and telecommunications industries,
 A special role is played by Kronospan, which is the world's largest
manufacturer of MDF and particleboards, creating excellent economic
and logistical conditions for launching the production of furniture in the
SEZ, directly adjacent to the factory.

“THE SZCZECINEK AREA”
 The “Szczecinek Area” with the surface area of 95 ha is part of the Słupsk
Special Economic Zone,
 42 ha of the SEZ are taken up by the KRONOSPAN plant,
 The city owns additional 53 ha of investment land situated in convenient
locations,
 All plots in the area have a regulated legal status,
 The city has invested nearly PLN 15 million in linear infrastructure within the
two major complexes of the area,
 The area is ready to accommodate both SMEs and large enterprises,
 The City will prepare the required surface area according to the tenderer's
needs.

 ELECTRICITY – available power: 20 MW, voltage 15 kV

 WATER – available amount of water for production purposes: 300 m3/h,

The values refer to the existing infrastructure. For larger needs, it is
necessary to contact with suppliers of various utilities.
SZCZECINEK FURNITURE CLUSTER
KRONOSPAN together with regional and local authorities,
and in cooperation with Board of Słupsk Special Economic
Zone initiated the establishment of the Szczecinek
Furniture Cluster.
STOL-TAP Company as a first member of the Szczecinek
Furniture Cluster, launched the investment of 1,7 mio. PLN
(May 2013) and employed 25 persons.
In 2014, it is planned to construct the production facilities
within the SCF of about 40.000 sq. metres.
KRONOSPAN plans to invest 50 million euros over the next
few years in the development of Szczecinek Furniture
Cluster and the creation of the Technology Park.
SOCIAL INFRASTRUCTURE
The local government effectively cares for the inhabitants' quality of life:

Establishment of a company named "Szpital w Szczecinku" and inviting private capital to the creation of
specialised health care centres (cardiology, nephrology, ophthalmology, dialysis),

Initiated extension of the hospital to include a new segment and the Hospital Emergency Ward with a
helipad.

Own subsidies of the local government to the educational grant for an extra-curricular activities and to
increase the effectiveness of the teaching process

Modification of the spatial development plans to allow the "entry" of larger chain stores into the city
(Tesco, Lidl, KAUFLAND...)

Reconstruction of the city communications system

Establishment of a system of grants for renovation of residential buildings

Thermal efficiency improvement of public utility facilities


The city is one of the two safest in the region in the police ranking.
HEALTH SERVICE

The District and the City established a company named “Szpital w Szczecinku” and
initiated the procedure of extension of the complex with a new block of beds and
the Hospital Emergency Ward with a helipad.

Conditions allowing private entities to invest
in the establishment of new hospital wards have been created,

External companies invested around PLN 30 m. and established: Dialysis, Invasive
Cardiology, Ophthalmology, and Nephrology Wards,

The hospital and specialist clinics are equipped with modern diagnostic
equipment: computer tomography, digital mammograph, digital x-ray, equipment
for mammotome biopsy etc.

Accreditation for the specialisation of young medical staff has been obtained in
almost all hospital wards.

 A specialised unit dedicated to culture and promotion of the Szczecinek
region has been established - the Self-Government Agency for Promotion
and Culture – SAPIK
 The Small Philharmonic in Szczecinek has been launched along with the
School of Music
 Dozens of valuable theatrical productions have been brought to
Szczecinek, including entering into cooperation with theatres from
Warsaw,
 A professional area for mass events has been prepared in the Zachód
estate.
 The public library has been renovated, computerised and reorganised

CULTURE – „THE SMALL FILHARMONY”
PROMOTION OF THE REGION

The city and the sub-region are subject to constant promotion services provided by the SelfGovernment Agency for Promotion and Culture /SAPIK/.

SAPIK performs integrated PR activities aimed at economic and tourist promotion
in the Polish market and abroad.

The policy to promote the assets of the City has resulted, among others, in awarding the
package of services called “Bayern Excursion Boat” with the Tourist Product of the Year 2007
title. The city has received the “First-Class Investor” title from the Polish Sports
Infrastructure Club, and the water ski lift has been recognised as “The Sports Investment of
the Year 2008”.

In its promotional activities SAPIK cooperates with national television stations

The promotional activities will continue in 2013, a prospective investors will gain marketing
support in the projects carried out by SAPiK.
