Web Platform: mathe online (english: maths online http://www.mathe-online.at/ http://www.univie.ac.at/future.media/moe/) Application in Regular Courses Regular courses are supported by • • Interactive learning units Asynchronous communication tools Problems to overcome: • Difficulties with the transition School University/Fachhochschule • Extremely large student numbers Video Sequences and Life Events Video sequences • Production of short clips on key notions applicable for a broad group of students. Life Events • • MOO/chat (e.g. repetition or summary of a lecture) MOO/audio (e.g. “question hour“ or panel discussion) to be tested for communication about mathematical issues. MathML, Final Conference MathML • and MathML tools to be tested for being used in everyday course issues. Final conference • to take place presumably in October 2004. Afterwards • The material and tools developed will generally be accessible, and • a thorough project documentation shall help future initiatives to profit from the experiences gained.
