หลักการใช้ Past Simple Tense
1. ใช้แสดงถึงการกระทาหรือเหตุการณ์ที่เกิดขึ้ นในอดีตและสิ้ นสุดลงแล้ว โดยจะ
ระบุเวลาไว้อย่างชัดเจน ตัวอย่างเช่น
- Mark arrived at 7 o'clock yesterday.
- Joe bought a new car last week.

2. ใช้แสดงถึงการกระทาที่เป็ นนิสัยหรื อเกิดขึ้นเป็ นประจาในอดีต แต่ไม่ได้เกิดขึ้น
แล้วในปัจจุบนั มักมี adverbs of frequency ที่แสดงความบ่อยรวมอยูใ่ นประโยค
เช่น always, usually, often, every........เป็ นต้น และต้องมีคาบอกเวลาในอดีต
แสดงไว้ดว้ ย ตัวอย่างเช่น
- It often rained last week.
- He always played tennis last year.
3. ใน Past Simple Tense สามารถใช้ used to + คำกริยำช่ องที่ 1 (เคย) แสดงถึงการ
กระทาที่กระทาอยู่ หรื อที่เป็ นอยูเ่ ป็ นประจาในอดีต ตัวอย่างเช่น
- Sam used to travel to Japan on business.
- She used to work here.

หลักการเปลี่ยนคากริ ยาให้เป็ น Past Tense
การเปลี่ยนรู ปคากริ ยาเป็ น past tense มี 2 วิธี คือ
1. การเติม ed ที่ทา้ ยคากริ ยาช่องที่ 1 (Regular Verb)
2. คากริ ยาที่เปลี่ยนรู ปใหม่ ( Irregular Verb)
หลักการเติมเติม ed ที่ทา้ ยคากริ ยา
1.คากริ ยาโดยทัว่ ไปเมื่อเปลี่ยนเป็ นคากริ ยาช่องที่ 2 ให้เติม ed ได้เลย เช่น
- clean
cleaned แปลว่า ทาความสะอาด
- help
helped แปลว่า ช่วยให้
- watch
watched แปลว่า ดู,มอง

2. คากริ ยาที่ลงท้ายด้วย e อยูแ่ ล้ว ให้เติม d ได้ทนั ทีเช่น
- like
liked แปลว่า ชอบ
- bake
baked แปลว่า อบ,ย่าง
- live
lived แปลว่า อาศัยอยู่
3. คากริ ยาที่เป็ นพยางค์เดียว มีสระตัวเดียว ตัวสะกดตัวเดียว ให้เพิม่ ตัวสะกดตัวท้าย
อีกหนึ่งตัวก่อน แล้วจึงเติม ed เช่น
- stop
stopped แปลว่า หยุด
- fit
fitted แปลว่า การติดตั้ง
- plan
planned แปลว่า การวางแผน

4. คากริ ยาที่มี 2 พยางค์ ออกเสี ยงเน้นหนักพยางค์หลังให้เพิม่ ตัวสะกดตัวท้ายอีกหนึ่ง
ตัวก่อน แล้วจึงเติม ed
- prefer
preferred แปลว่า ที่ตอ้ งการ
- control
controlled แปลว่า การควบคุม
5. คากริ ยาที่ลงท้ายด้วย y และหน้า y เป็ นพยัญชนะ ให้เปลี่ยน y เป็ น i แล้วจึงเติม ed
เช่น
- study
studied
แปลว่า การศึกษา
- carry
carried
แปลว่า ดาเนินการ
แต่ถา้ หน้า y เป็ นสระให้เติม ed ได้เลย เช่น
- play
played
แปลว่า เล่น
- stay
stayed
แปลว่า อยู่

กำรทำเป็ นประโยคคำถำม
1. ให้สังเกตว่าในประโยคมีกริ ยาช่วยหรื อไม่ ถ้ามีให้นากริ ยาช่วยมาวางไว้หน้า
ประโยคและใส่ เครื่ องหมาย ?(question mark)
2. ถ้าในประโยคนั้นไม่มีกริ ยาช่วย ให้ใช้ did มาช่วย ( ประธานทุกตัวใช้ did) โดยนา
did มาวางไว้หน้าประโยค ตามด้วยประธานและกริ ยาต้องอยูใ่ นรู ปเดิม( ช่ องที่
1) ท้ายประโยคใส่ เครื่ องหมาย? (question mark)

กำรทำให้ เป็ นประโยคปฏิเสธ
1. ถ้าในประโยคมีกริ ยาช่วยให้ใส่ not หลังกริ ยาช่วยนั้น ถ้าในประโยคมีกริ ยาช่วยให้
ใส่ not หลังกริ ยาช่วยนั้น
2. ถ้าไม่มีกริ ยาช่วยให้ใช้ did มาช่วย (ประธานทุกตัวใช้ did) แล้วใส่ not หลัง did
และกริ ยาช่องที 2 ต้องเปลี่ยนเป็ นกริ ยาช่องที่ 1
