WHO IS NBDL?
➤ Navitus Bay Development Ltd is a 50:50 JV
between Eneco and EDF Energy created to develop
Zone 7 of Round 3
➤ Eneco is a Dutch utility with 2 million customers in
the Netherland. It has been operating the Prinses
Amalia windpark since 2008 and will begin
construction of Luchterduinen in 2014
➤ EDF Energy is the UK subsidiary of EDF with over
5 million customers in the UK. They have 20
onshore wind farms and will complete construction
the Teesside offshore wind farm in 2013

PROJECT SPECIFICS
➤ Larger than any project in operation today
but one of the smaller round 3 zones
➤ Our water depths vary between 25m and 50m
➤ Soil conditions are stiff clay in north and rock
and chalk in south
➤ We will use prototype and next generation
turbines and foundations
• We will use around 250km of inter-array
cable and up to 180km of subsea export cable
• South coast ports are likely to be used as the
base for construction and for O&M
TIMESCALES
➤ Environmental statement completed and
further consultation – 2013
➤ Development Consent application – Q1 2014
➤ Potential Development Consent award – Q2
2015
➤ Financial close/award contracts – Q2 2016 to
2017
➤ Start of construction – 2017 onshore and
offshore enabling
➤ Operational Wind Park– 2021
CONCLUSIONS
➤ UK is seen as centre of global offshore wind
➤ Real opportunity for UK industry given change in
manufacturing logistics and technology
➤ Technology landscape is changing fast with
innovation and increased scale to reduce costs
➤ Navitus Bay is a key round 3 project that will
support a balanced portfolio of projects in terms of
geography and site conditions
➤ As a project we are committed to supporting UK
and local supply to create a benefit for the region
➤ 2017 to 2021 will see £3-4 billion of
investment if we gain consent
