single network platform, based on IP technologies
• 21CN remains an important strategic project for BT Group and investment in
it continues at a pace, especially in the new product areas, such as Broadband &

21CN voice end user migration plans
• As reported on the January webcall BT has been reviewing implementation plans
for 21CN voice end user migrations
• Many aspects have been considered for the review
• BT has decided to halt all plans to migrate further voice lines to the 21CN voice
platform, including the 275,000 voice lines planned for Pathfinder Volume POTS.
• All currently planned trials of ISDN have also been stopped.
• We now think further mass migrations to the 21CN voice platform are unlikely.
• Those customers already migrated to the 21CN voice platform will remain –
~ current voice network improvement upgrades will continue
~ the programme to migrate/re-migrate groomed and regressed lines
is continuing
• BT will continue to maintain the quality of voice services over its 20C network –
there is more confidence that this can be sustained for a number of years
21CN voice end user migration plans
• A briefing and white labelled slide pack has been developed for you to use
internally and as the basis of any discussions with your customers.
• The briefing was issued to the Consult21 distribution via the briefing portal on
13th April 2010 and is available via:

21CN voice end user migration plans– what does this mean
to Consult21?
• There will be an impact on a number of Consult21 working groups and
experts’ groups - mainly associated with the Implementation & Migration
Working Group (IMWG)
• We’ll be explaining what this halt means at the specific groups and give full
details at the next IMWG on 29th April
• We’ll ensure that all learning and outstanding issues from these groups are
captured
• We will continue to engage with industry on future consultation areas
• The Steering Board will continue – refocused to a discuss
wider topics

Broadband
• IPstream and Datastream are retained on the current broadband platform
until their withdrawal from service and are not migrated to 21CN
• Withdrawal information was shared on the January webcall & are detailed in the
DSP
• Are replaced by 21CN broadband products that provide similar and enhanced
end user functionality – Wholesale Broadband Connect (WBC) and Wholesale
Broadband Managed Connect (WBMC).
• WBC & WBMC are available at 855 sites serving more than 55% of UK
homes and businesses
• Continuing, subject to wholesale customer demand, to extend the WBC
footprint further – to cover up to 75% of UK end users by Spring 2011,
serving around 20 million UK homes and businesses.
• Service Availability datasets for WBC rollout are updated monthly via the
Service Availability area of btwholesale.com
