DESCRIPTION AND ACHIEVEMENTS:
TECNALIA has a patent portfolio comprising 114 families
that cover many different technological areas. This
portfolio is constantly evolving and it is dynamically
managed according to the business divisions’ technology
strategy. TECNALIA currently has 286 active patents of
which 52 were requested last year.
The most remarkable activities in the technology transfer
field are those related with entrepreneurship and
negotiation of license agreements: Throughout its history,
TECNALIA has promoted the creation of numerous New
Technology-Based Firms, of which 25 are still operating
and employ 132 people. Nowadays, TECNALIA is still
stakeholder in 17 of these NTBCs. On the other hand,
TECNALIA has promoted the knowledge transfer to the
industrial sector through the establishment of licensing
agreements with companies both nationally and
internationally.

TECHNOLOGY PORTFOLIO:
Last year, ITI was involved in 98 R&D projects, in which 77%, ITI
was hired directly by companies, and the remaining 23% have
been achieved through funding public (89% in cooperation with
other technology centres and / or companies). In addition to R&D
itself, ITI was executing projects in strategic areas funded
exclusively by the Institute. These data were the result of ITI
transferring efforts, enterprise demand-oriented, dissemination
sessions, workshops organized for identifying needs and
exchange of experiences, betting on a renewed innovation
management based on technological surveillance, an enhanced
process of opportunities detection, a better strategy for
internationalization, ... in order to get closer to businesses, with
more and better information about their environment, allowing
companies to make appropriate decisions aligned with the trends.
Finally, ITI got several registration of copyright of ITI various
proprietary technologies as well as the claim of two patent
registers, one in USA and one in various countries across the
PCT area.
The offer provided by the ITI technology consists of both
Technology Services and Technology Products. Services
include architecture and software development
(Implementation and deployment of applications,
architectures and design, development and development
consulting, development methodologies, development of
information management tools), Mobile Applications and
"Smart environments" (Mobility and Ambient Intelligence) and
software Quality and testing (software testing, usability and
accessibility, verification and validation of critical systems
software). Regarding Technology Products ITI offers
ForePlanner (management system for demand forecasting),
SeKuen (tool capable of optimize production scheduling in
complex environments), RoutingMaps (system for routes and
fleets optimization) , OCRFORMS (OCR / ICR (Optical /
Intelligent Character Recognition) able to recognize, extract
and export printed and handwritten information from different
types of documents for subsequent digital processing),
ITICAB (technology Identification / Verification by face
recognition) and ZeroGravity3D (visual inspection system for

The strategy adopted by CITIC consists in acting as a
link between the knowledge of the university and the
necessities of society and industry. This enables CITIC to
realize R&D projects, transfer developed technology and
favor the implantation into society through the
Technology Transfer Office (TTO). CITIC has a strong
experience in national and european R&D projects (more
than hundred developed projects), as a result, its
researchers have acquired much expertise in several
research lines. Also, some enterprises and public entities
have trusted in CITIC by hiring its services for the
development of specific tailored solutions for their daily
operations and management.

GRADIANT has achieved successes in technology
transfer, such as patents, licenses and others, in the
following areas: Real time advanced analysis of video
signals, biometrics-based demographic segmentation
systems , facial recognition engine, document traceability
systems, Digital Gap Filler with advanced echo
cancellation, quality assessment software for DVB-S2
and LTE communications signals , geolocated database
for reuse of TV spectrum, ARANTIA Set-Top
box, TravelMovie content distribution system, and
analysis tools for Social Media.

Fidesol is the only one european non profit specialised
entity in R&D and innovation with open source solutions,
whose mission is to facilitate the application of knowledge
and technolocal transfer to both businesses and another
public or private investigation entities. In terms at mobile
technologies level, we are leader in providing augmented
reality solutions in the business base and regarding
software virtualization, our team is working in a project to
develop the first mobile operating system in the cloud.
TECHNOLOGY PORTFOLIO:
The main pillars of Fidesol are:
1. R&D and innovation in information technologies;

agile methodologies;
3. Technical Consultancy and problem analisys and

TECHNOLOGY PORTFOLIO:
Research
The activities in 2012 have been focused exclusively in the areas of
ubiquitous Internet Technologies (UITU) and Network and Distributed
Applications (DANA). During 2012 there have been 33 publications in
both journals, international conferences or specialized books.
Innovation
During the year 2012 the number of European projects in which
i2CAT has participated has been increased by 75%, reaching the
figure of 28 projects, 5 of them led by i2CAT. For the first time, the
funding obtained from European competitive funds exceeds those of
the national and state funds. Over 52% of competitive funds have
come from European funding.
Technology transfer
As a result of the execution of several R & D in collaboration with
institutions, several patent applications have been handled to protect
their intellectual property. Currently, there are four patents in the
portfolio.
i2CAT has an extensive experience in multiple research and innovation projects
