ricevuto oggi i nostri studenti per un benvenuto ufficiale nella sala
consiliare dell’Hotel de Ville (Municipio) della città.

I think that this exchange shows my and your students the common origin
of italian people and the people of Québec. The latin origin of our
languages underlines that on the opposite sites of the Atlantic Ocean
there is a will to remember the history of a language and a culture which
from the ancient greek and roman world, through the medieval age and
the catholic religion, and then through the italian renaissance and then
through the french enlightenment, reach our generation. So now, here in
Québec, al the beginning of twenty-first century, I can remember this
common tradition and I can say too Je me souviens1
