Objective and Problem
Analyze film soundtracks
Compare prosody of songs within the
same film, but different scenes
How does the prosody of a song
match that of its respective scene in
the movie?
Data
For presentation constraints, scope of
today’s presentation is narrowed in on
one Fantasy genre soundtrack –
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone
All tracks are listened to; selected
tracks are technically analyzed
Parts of the film are watched and
presented in accordance with
soundtrack
Method
Sonic Visualizer- obtain beat
information
Matlab- obtain loudness information
Plot beats and Loudness curves
Subjective interpretation
Draw conclusions based on both
Results
