WNEP is EFNEP and SNAP-Ed.
Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) is
specifically for low income families with young children and for
groups of youth. EFNEP is currently in 7 counties.
SNAP-Ed is Nutrition Education
associated with the Supplemental
Nutrition Assistance Program
(SNAP/formerly called food
stamps).

SNAP-Ed is for families and
individuals who are eligible
for FoodShare and other
federal assistance programs.
SNAP-Ed is currently in 67
counties.
WNEP provides nutrition education to
families and individuals with limited resources.
WNEP collaborates
with over 900
local agencies
and coalitions in
both urban and
rural areas.
In FY15, WNEP brought $10 million in
federal funds into the State.

Nutrition education is important.
The economic cost of obesity in Wisconsin is
estimated to be 3.1 billion and increasing.
2 in 3 adults are
overweight or obese.
77% of adults do not eat the
recommended daily amount of
fruits and vegetables.
1 in 11 households face hunger
or are food insecure.
WNEP teaches parents how their
families can plan healthy meals.
WNEP teaches children and
adults about the need to
eat fruits and vegetables.
WNEP teaches adults to
stretch food dollars.
WNEP works with our communities to
make the healthy choice the easy choice.

the state said their children
