This physical education and fitness class is for those students that want to
make a serious commitment to their physical well-being.
Why is PE Important?
Students need to understand;
● Health related fitness impacts
their/our personal quality of life
● Health impacts our whole society
● Our level of fitness has changed,
can change, and will change
based on our actions, NOW is the
time to take control of our life.
That’s all fine but we need to focus on academics?

Physical Education Viewpoints
Creating an Attitude:
●
This is what we “GET TO DO
TODAY” vs. This is what we
“HAVE TO DO TODAY”
●90% of learning occurs in the
stretch zone
●In traditional physical Education
most students are either in their
comfort zone or panic zone.
Physical Education Curriculum,
Guiding Objectives:
●
●
●
●
All students will be lifelong learners, to facilitate this
we (teachers) need to address why each curriculum
unit is presented and how to extend participation
beyond the class.
All curriculum units presented will be lifetime in
nature and emphasis physical fitness.
We will attempt to expose students to many different
activities. Every student may not enjoy every activity
but if each student finds a few activities to participate
in for a lifetime we have accomplished our number
one goal.
We will employ the “Challenge by Choice” approach
allowing students to participate at their own
individual levels.
