Olweus Definition of Bullying:
“Bullying is when someone
repeatedly and on purpose says or
does mean or hurtful things to
another person who has a hard
time defending himself or herself.”

1. Teachers post and enforce schoolwide rules against
bullying
2. Teachers hold regular class meetings
3. Teachers hold meetings with students’ parents

Tips for Parents
Never tell your child to ignore the bullying
Allow your child to talk about his or her bullying
experiences
Do not encourage physical retaliation
Contact a teacher, counselor, or principal and share
your concerns about the bullying
Teach your child safety strategies such as how to seek
help from an adult
