The Problem:
“Where did you go today?”
Location-based mobile apps are usually focused on
the future: that is, where you’re going to go. But it’s
sometimes useful to track the places you’ve already
been.
Examples:
• Lost belongings
• Travel journaling
• Productivity
A Hypothetical Scenario for your
Consideration
Tony likes to go out for a drink or eight on Friday and Saturday nights.
Sometimes, Tony has a little too much to drink and gets forgetful and can
sometimes leave things behind.
One night, in his drunken stupor, Tony lost his wallet. The next morning,
Tony had no idea where he had been the previous night, let alone where
he might have left his wallet. Luckily, Tony had a GPS-enabled phone and
a program that tracked where he was. Tony was able to see a list of each
of the pubs he had been to, and a map that traced his entire route through
the city over the course of the night. While looking at the list of locations,
Tony noticed that he had spent over three hours at Patty’s Pub, and
realized he had probably left his wallet there. And he was right! Thanks to
this application, he had saved himself countless hours of frustration.
