FEB 5, 2016 Learning Target: Be able to describe inelastic and elastic collisions • • • • • • Go over Notes on introduction to momentum Homework Questions Go over Giancoli notes #2: Inelastic and elastic collisions Lab in the computer room Inquiry collision lab Today’s vocabulary: • Elastic collision • Inelastic collision • Homework: homework #2 INQUIRY COLLISON LAB • Supplies: Dynamic Cart • Dynamic cart instructions—one with piston • Some ideas • Clay, balloons or rubber tubing • Motion detectors • Lab quests Your mission: To develop three demonstrations that quantitatively show conservation of motion (one needs to show elastic collision and one inelastic, you can use a third) You must have a well thought out design before using the equipment as you will have exactly 15 minutes to gather your data. Your report will include data, graphs and a conclusion. You must have a group report and it will be a power point presentation to the class explaining your choices and what you found out. Presentations are to be no longer than 3 minutes and will be after the test on Feb 17.
