Sixth Avenue Medical Pharmacy
Sixth Avenue Medical Pharmacy was
started in 1964 by Gerald Stocker
and his wife Marilyn. The pharmacy
began with filling only 8
prescriptions a day and grew into an
incredible business, having multiple
locations at its peak. Sixth Avenue
Medical Pharmacy is the pharmacy
after which Erik and his colleagues at
Washington State University modeled

Erik on buying Sixth Avenue
“We were fortunate enough to gather respectable
information from the store we did the business
plan on, and after we were done I approached
the owner and asked him what his plans were.
We struck up the conversation from there and
the rest is history. I still keep in contact with
him on a regular basis and he has become a
huge mentor for me. I owe him a lot for helping
me get started.”
Erik on entering the Business Plan Competition
“I did the NCPA Business Plan
Competition
with
some
friends. We ended up doing
well at it, and it made me
realize that ownership was a
reality for anyone that put
their mind to it.”
Erik has now owned Sixth
Avenue Medical Pharmacy
for two years. He feels
really lucky to have a
supportive family. His wife
and kids are super
understanding of his late
nights at the store and are
eager to help when they
can since it is a family run
business.
Erik on NCPA’s influence on his career
“I can truly say that doing the
NCPA Business Plan
competition and then getting
involved with NCPA afterwards
changed my career path and
has made ownership a reality
for me.”
