GLAST LAT Project RFA 11- LAT Modes (1/3) • Specific Request – The LAT Operations Team and Spectrum Astro should work together to verify if any interactions between LAT modes and spacecraft modes need to occur. For example, if a LAT mode change requires the spacecraft to change spacecraft mode and/or configuration. • Response – Identified and confirmed LAT modes with FSW – Except for autonomous repoint requests, LAT mode changes do not drive spacecraft changes 8/2/2004 – Lori Bator 1 GLAST LAT Project RFA 11- LAT Modes (2/3) Mission Modes SC Mode Launch S-Band rcvr/xmit On battery power Early Orbit Inertial capture S-Band rcvr/xmit Sun point with solar arrays tracking Engineering Inertial point, zenith point, or maneuver Ku-Band xmit, S-Band rcvr/xmit Solar arrays tracking Sky Survey Zenith point Ku-Band xmit, S-Band rcvr/xmit Solar arrays tracking Pointed and Repointed Inertial point, maneuver Ku-Band xmit, S-Band rcvr/xmit Solar arrays tracking Safe mode Inertial capture, sun point S-Band rcvr/xmit Solar arrays fixed Re-Entry Cruise, delta-V S-Band rcvr/xmit Solar arrays tracking 8/2/2004 – Lori Bator LAT Mode Off Survival Science Calibration Diagnostic SAA LAT Safe Survival Off 2 GLAST LAT Project RFA 11- LAT Modes (3/3) • Survival – LAT powered off – Survival heaters provide thermal control • Science Mode – Physics (data taking) modes • Calibration – Charge injection calibration • Diagnostic – Engineering and troubleshooting • SAA – South Atlantic Anomaly (SAA) Safe Mode • LAT Safe – SIU, PDU, GASU, and thermal control on 8/2/2004 – Lori Bator 3
