Text Placeholder
• Text placeholder, The place where you can
enter text
• Text object, When you enter text in a
placeholder, placeholder becomes a text object
• Object, An object is an element that can be
positioned and sized separately of other object

Difference between Text boxes
and Text place holder
• Textbox and its contents do not appear in
outline view, but text placeholder do
appear in outline view
• Use Insert  Textbox or choose from
Drawing Toolbar

Adding and formatting text
• You can only type text into placeholders,
text boxes, AutoShapes, not directly onto
the slides background

Create New Slide
• You can create new slides by pressing keyboard
shortcuts while you are entering text on the
outline tab of the Outline/Slide pane, as follow:
– Press enter if the insertion point is at the right end of
the slide
– Press Ctrl + Enter if the insertion point is at the right
end of a bulleted item
– Press Shift + Tab if the insertion point is at the left
end of a bulleted item.

Editing text on slides
• If you start typing on an empty slide without First
having selected a placeholder , PowerPoint
enters the text into the title object.
• Use backspace to delete the mistakes.

Changing a layout of the slide
• When you manually alter the layout,
PowerPoint uses automatic layout
behavior to apply to the slide layout that
matches your changes

Inserting slides from another
presentation
• You can save time while creating a
presentation by using slides that you have
already created.
• When you insert slide from another
presentation, the slides conform to the
color and design of the current
presentation, so you don’t have to make
any changes.
• Insert  Slides from File

Rearranging Presentation
• You can rearrange the slides by using
couple of ways:
– Use Slide sorter view
– Use Outline view
• In both views you can just click and drag
the sheet to their appropriate places

Arranging slides in a
presentation
• Use Slide Sorter view or the Outline pane to
shuffle the slide in your presentation
• In Slide Sorter view just drag and drop slide
where you want
• In Outline pane, drag the icon for the entire slide
to the destination
• You can cut, copy and paste selected slide in
either view
• You can select non adjacent slide by pressing
Ctrl + Click

Using the pasteboard
• If you are making extensive edits to slide
graphics use the blank area surrounding as a
temporary parking place for objects you might
want to reuse
• To place an object on this pasteboard just drag it
• Pressing Ctrl while dragging makes a copy of
the object
• Pasteboard moves with the slide when you scroll

Entering Speaker Notes
• If you will be delivering your presentation before
live audience, you will be probably need some
speaker notes

Chapter 2 Summary
• You can enter text in either Slide pane or on
the Outline tab
• You can quickly and easily add new slides to
a presentation, by clicking the new slide
button on formatting toolbar or from insert
menu
• You can change the current layout of a slide
by selecting a new layout from the Slide
Layout task pane. You can also reapply the
original slide layout without loosing any slide
content
