Wireless Sensors Senior Design (20 students/year)
CHALLENGE:
•Transmit 16 channels of race car data in real time
•Range of ½ mile
•Graphical user interface, data logging, reenactment capability
Society of Automotive Engineers
Student-Built Formula Car
Fit to Wireless Engineering Curriculum:
•Need to develop in-house wireless telemetry
hardware
PROJECT ARCHITECTURE
•Recruit students into graduate program
•Encourage internships and and co-ops in
wireless engineering

Wireless Sensors Research
GOALS
•AU-UAB Collaboration pending major NIH support:
•Next-generation cardiac mapping
•Map 3-D electrical activity in beating heart
•Identify precursors of cardiac arrhythmias
•528 electrical/optical probes, total of 4 Gbit/s data rate
•Replace current cumbersome fully-wired scheme
