LEGO 101 Day 1 Dr. Nannette Napier Marcus Michalske Victor Moy Rachael Wright Welcome to LEGO MINDSTORMS Science Nation - SpelBots http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7OuzAkrS m1s Today, you will Use the NXT editor to write a program using the following blocks Sound Display Wait – time Move Download and run a program on the LEGO NXT Brick Begin Challenge 1 Sound Block Use this block to play a sound file or a single tone. To compose a melody of tones, arrange several sound blocks in a row with each set to play different tones. 2 Display Block Short tutorial When you’re ready to return to the default LEGO MINDSTORMS icon, add another Display Block with the “Reset” action 2 Wait - time Block This block lets your robot sense its environment for a certain condition before it continues. 3 & 4 Move Block Use this block to set your robot to go forwards or backwards in a straight line or to turn by following a curve. Move Forward Move Reverse 5 Accelerate Two steps: 1. Move forward at 50% speed and coast 2. Move forward at 100% speed and coast 6 Curve turn 7 Point turn using Move Block This gives you a 90 degree turn clockwise Today’s tasks Common Palette Tutorials 1 through 7 Program the robot to get through course outlined in blue tape on the floor Optional Extensions At the beginning of the course, have your robot display an image At the end of the course, have your robot play music Musical Robot: Sing a Song Use a variety of Sound Blocks to play a song.
