Eligibility
Research Enhancement Program
• Any UTA full-time tenured or tenure-track faculty member
• Preference (one + criteria)
• Hired on or after June 1, 2012 and initiating a new program
of research or creative activity
• Initiating a new collaborative program of research or creative
activity
• Established record but initiating a new area/line of research
or creative activity leading to external funding

Review Criteria
• Conception, definition and design
• Innovation – significance and degree
• Proposal clarity and understandability
• Completion potential during grant period
• Previous work quality/promise/development potential
• Match of $$$ request to work scope/nature
• Future funding prospects (relevant track record)
• Budget guideline compliance

Funding Limits
The budget for a Research Enhancement Program grant proposal submitted
by a single investigator may not exceed $10,000; a proposal submitted by
two or more investigators may not exceed $15,000, regardless of the number
of collaborating faculty.

Monday, November 2, 2015, 1:00 PM
Online system opens to applicants
Tuesday, December 1 2015, 4:00 PM
Online system closes to applicants
No materials may be submitted or changed beyond this
time.
Tuesday, February 9, 2016, 4:00 PM
Online system closes to all school- and college-level
reviewers. No additions or changes to rating, rankings,
or comments may be submitted beyond this time.
Tuesday, March 15, 2016
University Research Committee submits funding
recommendations to the Vice President for Research.
Thursday, April 4, 2016 (approx.)
The Office of the Provost, on behalf of the President,
notifies applicants.
Award Notification - Prior to the annual Spring Meeting
of the University Faculty and Associates

Key Points
Only one proposal (including co-authored proposals) per faculty
member per funding period
Reapply three years post REP funding (track record scrutinized)
Some unacceptable uses: research conference travel, consultants,
preparing textbooks, revising courses, preparing class notes, performing
editorial duties, compiling non-scholarly bibliographies and catalogues…
 required to submit a grant proposal to an external funding agency
within one year post REP funding
Award period: June 1, 2016 - August 31, 2017 (15 mos.)
Grant funds cannot be carried forward (9/1/17 unspent revert)
Final Report containing follow-up grant, publishing (list/copies) due
November 1, 2017.
