is a person who has strong
art spirit.
She comes from Osaka, Japan.
She stays in Taiwan for half years.
She majors in English.
Where is your country? What natural
resources do you have? Who are the people
making up the population?


Osaka is located in middle of Japan.
There are around eight million people in
Osaka. Moreover, it is famous for ancient
monuments and delicious food, such as the
seafood Osaka burns,
blowfish sashimi and
udon noodles, etc.
What is the staple food in your country?
Do you have any special table manners?


The staple food is made from flour such as
breads and noodles.
They should say “Itadakimasu” before eating
it means I start to eat. On
the other hand, when they
finish eating, they would
say “Arigato gozaimas”.
How is the weather like in your country?



The weather is mild.
The average temperature is 16.5°C.
The rainfall is 1,306 mm.
What kinds of clothes do people wear to work
or to school? What do people wear at home?
What do people wear to formal events?




They usually wear business suit to work, and
students usually wear uniform to school.
They always wear T-shirt and shorts at home.
They must wear kimono to special
holidays.

your country? When do you wear those
traditional costumes?

Yes, of course.
I usually wear traditional costumes in New
Year in January, and The Girl’s Festival in
March,3.
In addition, they will wear them in the
wedding.

Their typical house usually likes general
house.
They have a courtyard, and the toilet and
bathroom are separated.
They usually sleep on tatami.
Their houses are two types. For example, if
people live near city center, the price of
houses are expensive. Opposite, if people live
in downtown, the price of houses are cheaper.
When do young people leave home? Do
young adults live with their parents?

They are similar to us. Usually, when they
graduate from college, they will leave home
and find a job to make a living by themselves.
How do people get to work?
Some people get to work by subway, and
others people get to work by bus or on foot.
What is the most popular sport in
your country? Do you play it?

The popular sports are baseball, soccer,
sumo and wrestle.
She doesn’t play it, because she likes to go
shopping.

Time: Is it important to be punctual? Do
people always arrive on time? Is it ok to
arrive late?



It is very important for them to be punctual.
They always do anything on time, no matter
what the appointment or visit clients.
It is not ok to arrive late. It is very impolite.
Invitation: Is it normal to invite a friend to
have dinner at home? Or people meet in
the public places, like restaurants or cafés?


In Japan, they like to eat at home and
prepare abounding food to receive visitors.
In Taiwan, we like to eat outside, such as in
famous restaurants or night markets.
Greeting: How do people greet each other
when they meet? Do you shake hands, bow,
hug, or kiss? What do you say to each other?



In Japan, they usually bow when they meet
friends, relatives, elders, and so on.
They will say something like greeting to each
other.
In Taiwan, we usually shake hands when we
meet someone.
Agreement and disagreement: How do you
express agreement or disagreement?
Acceptance or refusal?


No matter who is Japanese or Taiwanese, we
usually say something to express our ideas
or opinions to discuss with other people.
Therefore, we don’t cause big problem on
acceptance or refusal.
Are there any taboos foreigners must
know before visiting your countries? What
do you think are the underlying reasons of
those taboos?




Before you go to Japan, you should notice some
taboos.
First, you should wear formal costumes in public
place.
Second, during the dining, you can’t make up. It
is an impolite behavior.
Third, they don’t like purple color, because they
think it is sorrowful. They also don’t like green
color, because it is a bad presentiment.
心得

結束了這次的訪談之後,我覺得這是一個很
棒的經驗,也是一個很好的機會,因為這個
報告,讓我們能夠與外籍生交流以及互動。
同時在訪談的過程中,也讓我們學習到更多
與日本相關的知識、文化與風俗習慣,且我
相信這些訊息在未來發展上會有幫助的,不
論是到日本留學或是旅遊。也希望以後還有
這樣的機會去了解其他國家的特色與異國風
情。
