Mesa Public Schools

Title I is a section of Elementary and
Secondary Education Act (ESEA) that
established these programs. It is formula
funded based on free/reduced lunch levels,
but the services provided are for students atrisk of meeting Arizona Common Core
standards in reading and math, so that they
can improve their skills, succeed in the
regular classroom, and reach grade-level
proficiency.




Mesa's Title I Programs serve students from preschool through junior high.
Parental involvement is critical for students
success.
Each site develops a School Continuous
Improvement Plan which includes goals based
upon multiple sources of data and researchbased programs and strategies.
It is the goal of Title I to bring the resources of
the home and school together, to help our
students achieve.

With Title I funding, we are able to…
 Have a full time Title I School Improvement
Specialist, to support teachers and
administration.
 Have a full time Reading Interventionist.
 Numerous Instructional Assistants.
 Purchase technology to focus our efforts in
growing achievement in reading and math.
 SMARTBoards
 ST Math Technology

With Title I funding, we are able to…
 Establish a computer lab with enough computers
to support a full class.
 Staffed with a lab instructional assistant, to provide
daily support and reinforce teacher instruction in
content areas, with a focus on reading and math.

Mendoza strives to have all students, at all
levels reach mastery on the Arizona Common

Mesa Unified School District Title I supports
parent involvement because:
Involved parents motivate children.
 Parents can support learning in the home.
 Early skills acquired at home provide the foundation
of learning.
 Parents help increase public understanding and
support for school programs.
 Children develop positive attitudes about learning
with involved, understanding and supportive parents.


