September 2015 Issue 3 Jr. Jackrabbit News Things to Do at Home Help your child identify patterns in their environment. *A pattern is only a pattern if it is repeated twice. *The easiest patterns are those involving two colors or variables (for example, red, blue, red, blue), referred to as an AB,AB pattern. More complex patterns include ABC, ABC; AABB,AABB; AAB,AAB; ABB, ABB; and ABCD,ABCD. *Be sure to give your child the opportunity to “read” his pattern when it is complete. This will allow him the opportunity to fix any misplaced objects in his pattern. You are always welcome to our classroom to read a book or have lunch. Also, the observation room is open daily from 7am5pm. This Week We will continue our theme about “Me and My Family”. We will also begin patterning. Assist your child in finding patterns in their environment (patterns on clothing, shoes, food displays, etc.) Please continue to send in environmental print. The students love “reading” their words. Next Week Our theme will be “Apples”. We will be doing many activities with apples and would love donations of red, yellow, and green apples. Thank you! We will continuously be working on name recognition, class routines, fine motor skills, and language skills. *September 16-Mesa High Late Start (this does not affect the preschool schedule, but may affect your drive into campus) *September 24-Fire Drill during 1st period *Check the Mesa Public Schools calendar for late start days.
