ACCOUNTING AND BUDGETING FOR
THE FOOD SERVICE FUND
In all instances, schools districts should account for National school lunch,
breakfast, catering, adult meals and Summer feeding program in a special
revenue fund.
The serving days may vary from year to year which may dramatically
affect both revenue and expenditures.
Some districts contract with third party food service providers.
