Tools • Head • Sandpaper • Exacto • Sculpey • Brushes • Paint • Finish
Heads • Good casts make better finished product • Paint will not hide problems • Clean and prep as needed before starting
Heads • Patch holes and smooth problem areas • Bake at 225 for 10 minutes
Heads • Gently sand sculpey areas smooth • Sand any other rough spots • Fit neckplug • Remove dust from head
Paint • Acrylic’s • Delta Ceramcoat, Folkart, Apple Barrell (no Americana) • Cheap • Washable • Easy to mix
Brushes • Taklon synthetic • #6 or #8 for flesh/hair • #0 for eyebrows, facial hair, etc… • 10/0 spotter for eyes and detail • Cheap brushes cause mental health problems • Clean after each use • Replace often!
Getting Started • Organize yourself • Place for brushes, paints, painted heads, tools
Prime?
• Color heads • Slick heads • Prime white if needed
Painting • Flesh first • #6 or #8 brush • Thin coats, one at a time. Let dry between coats. • DO NOT GLOB • Use Exacto to pick bits that show up after first coat when dry
Painting • After 3 coats of Flesh
Painting • Hair next • #6 or #8 brush • Don’t worry about perfection yet • This is one coat, several coats may be needed
Painting • #0 brush, rough in eyebrows and eye whites • Only one coat on the eye whites at this time
Painting • #10/0 brush add black eyeliner • #10/0 brush, clean up hairline with flesh • Don’t worry if you have to fix your fix

Painting • #10/0 brush, Touch up eye whites • #10/0 brush, Touch up Flesh around eyeliner and eyebrows • Fix your fixes
Painting Eyes • #10/0 brush, Add first circle if needed.
• Let Dry
Painting Eyes • #10/0 brush, Add 2 nd layer, eyecolor • Let Dry
Painting Eyes • #10/0 brush, Add black circle • Let Dry
Painting Eyes • #10/0 brush, Add white glint • Let Dry • Touch up where needed

Mixing Paint-Megoflesh • Store bought Peachy flesh • Brown • Yellow • Red
Mixing Paint-Blonde • Tan (Brown/White) • Yellow
Makeup • Extend liner • Add eye shadow • Lipstick • Blush- Use old #6 brush and dab on color • Re-dab with flesh
