Project ToR
• Task I
Analyse and Update of 2009 Feasibility Study “IWRM
/ Akhouryan River, Phase 1”
• Task II
Detailed design and assistance to tendering “IWRM /
Akhouryan River, Phase 1”
• Task III
Construction supervision for Phase 1 contracts
• Task IV
Feasibility Study for the Irrigation System of “IWRM /
Akhouryan River, Phase 2”
• Task V
Management Plan for the Akhouryan River Basin
Note:
• Phase 1 of the Project comprises the rehabilitation of the dam at a low level
providing about 6 Mm3 capacity and the gravity supply of 2,200 ha irrigation
currently supplied by pumps or are non-irrigated.
• Phase 2 comprises the improvement of the irrigation system of the 2,200 ha.
• Feasibility study under Task I covers also the raising of the dam to its final height.

Results to expect
• Stabilization of dam construction site (Stage 1) with improvement
of the conveyance system (replacement of pumps by gravity
system) under Phase 1 of the Project
• Initial creation of storage capacity to relieve Arpi and Bavra
Reservoirs from their buffering function
• Preparation of a feasibility study for the improvement of the
irrigation system under Phase 2 of the Project with significant
efficiency improvements
• Preparations for Stage 2 of Kaps Dam (elevating dam to final
height)
• Embedding the irrigation scheme of “Shirak” Water User
Association into the National and International River Basin
Management Plan
• Stabilization of agricultural production in Shirak Marz for benefits
such as food security and rural employment
