The NEWADA initiative
 Contribute to a harmonized level of service
in waterway management on the Danube and
its navigable tributaries
Background
NEWADA duo is a follow-up project of NEWADA
It ran between 2009 and 2012
and contributed to:
– An intensified cooperation on hydrological and
hydrographical tasks
– Improvement of the physical accessibility of the
waterway infrastructure
– Enhanced access to ICT networks and services
– Integration of responsible stakeholders and increased
cooperation
NEWADA duo project objectives 1/2
 Improved waterway management (integrated,
sustainable and regionally coordinated) and
enhanced waterway maintenance (improved and
coordinated performance)
 Improved customer orientation of waterway
related services
 Harmonized waterway infrastructure related
basic data (defined quality, scope and
availability of data)
 Enhanced usage of Information and
Communication Technologies (harmonized and
up-to-date fairway information)
