   Saying," I was wrong. What can I do to correct the problem?” Never saying. “I can’t.” Always saying “I will try.” “I’m returning the things I borrowed

Caring What it Looks Like

 Thinking about other peoples feelings  Being thankful for what others do for you  Forgiving others, everyone makes mistakes

 “Can I help you?”  I will share things I have with others  Saying “I’m sorry” when you have hurt someone’s feelings  Being a good citizen by reciting the school and nation’s pledge in the morning

 Positive reinforcement coupons  Randomly given to students  Focus on character traits in pledge  Used by all staff and bus drivers  Weekly drawing  Over 22,000 distributed this year!

Character Counts

Periodic celebrations for students who consistently behave in a respectful, responsible, and caring manner  Dance  Arts and Crafts  Ice Cream Social  Jump rope demonstration

 Staff Member of the Week   Staff Breakfast – Drawings “Kudos” to You, Your efforts are worth more than “gold,” etc.

 Awarded weekly to classroom that is cleanest  Students taking responsibility for showing respect and caring to their surroundings  Each class decorates the trash can with something special

BMC Free Day Banner

 Displayed at school entrance  Each day with no BMC referrals  Student with referral removes banner

Owl Pal Shadow the Owl

 Caring toward new students  New student receives welcome packet  Owl Pal assigned to assist new student  Tour of building, meet staff, learn pledge  Lunch with BMC monitor/counselor   Other “goodies” Purpose – to begin on positive note
