What is FACET?

FACET models the National Airspace System, for both research
and operational use
– Developed as a simulation tool for NASA research
– Successfully transitioned to operational use


FACET is currently in operational
use by FAA traffic flow managers
and airline dispatchers

Key capabilities
– Traffic and weather data
visualization
– Models airspace operations at
national level (~15,000 aircraft)
– Real-time decision support for
operational users
– Improves traffic throughput
while maintaining safety
