What is a MANPADS?

Purpose?


Legitimate military weapon, employed for Point Defence of vital
assets and self-protection against air attack
Almost all use Passive Infrared homing guidance



Locks onto heat sources such as aircraft engines
Fire and forget, passive system
Performance?


Range: out to 5 km/3 miles
Altitude: up to 3,500m/11,500 ft Above Ground Level

Activate Battery Coolant Unit (BCU)

Can be achieved in under 10 seconds by an
experienced operator
