Book Fish
•
•
•
•
•
Studies show that reading 20 minutes a night helps all
students become better readers.
In lieu of a reading log, I implement an at home reading
homework, called Book Fish. Book Fish puts the enthusiasm
back into reading, especially for those who are reluctant
readers.
Students must hand in at least 4 Book Fish a week- this
means they must read at least 4 chapters a week in a chapter
book or 4 picture books. (Each Book Fish is one chapter or
book.)
After the student has finished their reading, they must write
a brief summary telling me what the chapter was about on the
fish. Title of book and author must be written on the fish as
well. Parents must sign the bubble on the fish so I know you
saw it.
The student places the fish in our Book Fish Bowl.
– At the end of the month, the student with the most Book
Fish picks a prize from the Treasure Chest.
–
–
At the end of the year, a fish will be picked to win a
–
a Grand Prize!
