Berlin Airlift
A. The Soviet
Union blocked
the Western
Allies' railway
and road access
to the parts of
Berlin under

Western powers
to allow the
Soviet zone to
start supplying

and fuel,
thereby giving
the Soviets
control over the
entire city.
B. In response, the
West mounted an
airlift; for almost
a year, supplies
were flown into
W. Berlin.
