FHSP (Foundation High School Plan) + Endorsement AND
FHSP + Distinguished
The purpose of these 2 additional graduation plans is to….
 Instill flexibility in public education by enabling students to
either pursue a traditional path into colleges and universities
or move directly into the workforce (ex. Welding,
Cosmetology certifications)

Allow Students to earn one of 5 endorsements within this
plan. (Public Administration, Arts and Humanities, MultiDisciplinary, STEM and Business Administration).

Students will be required to earn an endorsement in the
one of the following areas:
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math)
Business and Industry
Public Services
Arts and Humanities
Multidisciplinary Studies
An endorsement is essentially a sequence of courses in a
career cluster that will better prepare our students for a
career they are potentially interested
For Example:
A student wanting to be a welder will earn a “Business and
Industry” endorsement and complete the following
sequence of courses:
9th Grade:
10th Grade:
11th Grade:
12th Grade:
Principles of Agriculture
Principles of Architecture and Construction
Welding
Welding II

One is not necessarily better than the other but the FHSP
option does provide some flexibility in a students
schedule.
Examples:
1.
2.
Three Social Studies options instead of four to
encourage students to take classes that pertain to their
career pathway
Biology and 3 “advanced sciences” instead of Biology,
Chemistry, and Physics to encourage students to take
sciences that may pertain to their career pathway
Required Assessments For Class of 2015 , 2016 & 2017 and Beyond
•English I
•English II
•Algebra I
•US History
•Biology
•All students must meet at least the level two standard on all
5 EOCs to meet graduation requirements. Retests are in
December, July, and taken with the Spring Administration.
