Introduction “

The Quality of Health Care Depends to a Large Extent on the Nature of the Nursing Component Determined by four Elements”

    Standards of Education & preparation for those entering the profession Quality of care provided (Education & preparation) Number of nurses available Setting in which care is offered

There are many definitions for trend:   Having or taking a general direction or prevailing to show tendency towered something.

Some defined it as attitude.

Trend

 The general direction in which health care and/or the nursing profession is moving / heading.  Prevailing tendencies resulting in the high possibility of long-term change & significant influence on health care & nursing practice

Examples

 Demographic changes.

 More specialized and complex health care.

 Increase the use of automation in health facilities.

 Change of consumer demand towered health maintenance rather treatment of illness.

 The need for health workers for more educational preparations.

 New specialty as neonatal care intensive care rehabilitation ..etc

 Increase knowledge of consumers.

Issue

Issue is acknowledge debate that takes place between two groups of professional , regarding that issue (problems) that interfere with delivery of nursing care in health care setting.

An Issue in Nursing  A point in question or matter in argument that has special importance for nursing and or health/ health care of people

Issue Characteristics

 Political (local, regional , national, international)  Material (money, material, technology, structural)  Social (individual, family, community, … world)  Environmental (air, H20, food, pollutants, toxins, weather, forests)

Issues affecting nursing, the nursing profession and health care system become political issues that influence others and can impact on quality care

Nursing Issue... May starts from a:

 Dilemma (abortion, stem cell research & implication)  Challenge (a complicated and difficult problem)  Questions (What is a patient advocacy?)
