5th Sunday of Lent
March 13, 2016
Jesus is the image of the
invisible God.
Jesus’ life and ministry was tied to the Temple. It
was there that he was presented by Mary and Joseph
at forty days old. It was there that he held priests
and scribes spellbound at the age of twelve. It was
there that his ministry was centered especially
during the week leading up to this passion.
Jesus was teaching a large group of people in the
Temple courtyard when a group of scribes and
Pharisees interrupt him and say: Teacher, this
woman was caught in the very act of committing
adultery. Now in the law Moses commanded us to
stone such women. What do you say?
Jesus knows that the scribes and Pharisees are
setting a trap, and he doesn’t answer right away.
Instead he writes in the dirt. One might wonder if
he was writing the relevant passage from the Law
that condemned both partners in an adulterous
relationship. He couldn’t help but notice that the
man was conspicuously absent.
The scribes and Pharisees press him, and he
answers, Let the one among you who is without sin
be the first to cast a stone at her. They have
nothing to say in response, and one by one they
walk away. Once Jesus and the woman are alone,
he asks her, Where are they? Has no one
condemned you? She replies, No one, sir, and he
tells her, neither do I condemn you. Go and from
now on sin no more.
Jesus is the one without sin, the only one with the
right to judge, but he doesn’t. He dismisses the
woman and her accusers without condemning them.
We don’t have the privilege that the disciples had of
seeing Jesus in the flesh. We know Jesus through
the teachings of the apostles, through sacred
Scripture, through the teachings of the Church and
through the sacraments.
This is the God who is making something truly new.
Something the world has not seen or even imagined.

the pulpit and the street. We are called to action in
the Catholic community. Please be generous.

coalition represents a group of like-minded partners,
including 5,000 doctors across Canada, who are

practitioners and facilities. You can use this
website to write directly to your Member of

In questo anno della misericordia, questo bel
racconto ci parla della Misericordia di Gesu’
che non condanna ma e’ misericordioso
verso il peccatore. L’unica condizione e’
non piu’ peccare e credere all’infinto amore
di Dio.
Venerdi’ 4 avremo dopo la Messa il pio
esercizio della Via Crucis.
Durante la Quaresima la Diocesi ci invita ad
aprire il nostro cuore alle diverse carita’.
La prima , la Share Life. Prepariamoci
quando saremo invitati a donare I nostri
sacrifici.
Oggi abbiamo la prima raccolta per la Share
Life. Siate generosi.
Anna.
ShareLife:
When Archbishop Pocock made the
courageous decision to establish the
ShareLife appeal in 1976 in the Archdiocese
of Toronto, he began with only eight
agencies. This year, as we celebrate our 40th
anniversary, our campaign has grown to 42
agencies and we raise over $14 million on
an annual basis to support families and
individuals in need. Whether it’s people
with special needs, the elderly, children and
youth, education of our priests and deacons,
or international programs, ShareLife
supporters have been working wonders
because of your generosity. Thank you.
