EVERYTHING ACCORDING TO TRADITION
In a traditional wood burning pizza oven, in
the middle of our restaurant, we prepare
our thin base delicious pizzas. A crackling
wood fire, fresh basil, red tomatoes, delicious
salamis, old Parmesan cheese, gorgeous hams
and preserving jars filled with the tastiest
ingredients; you will feel like you are in an
authentic Italian restaurant.

Of course we have spared a thought for those
people with a diet, allergy or any other special
request. For these we can prepare delicious

These delicious pastas will frequently be
on the menu at ‘Bij de Neut’. Classics will
be transformed into the most delicious,
contemporary creations by our own chefs. The
pasta will be prepared à la minute in our pasta
cooker, whilst the freshly made sauces will be
cooking in our open kitchen. The smell of basil
and tomato will drift through the air.
Of course you have the choice of pasta sauces
with meat or fish, but we have also thought of
our vegetarian guests. There will always be a
delicious pasta on our menu for everyone. It’s
lovely to have for lunch or dinner.

HOT DRINKS

are ‘just’ pancakes. Loved by children because
of their sweet centers and loved by adults
because of a centuries old tradition.
At ‘Bij de Neut’ you can create your own
delicious pancake. Choose the base and fill it
with ingredients of your own choice, or choose
one of our luxury pancakes. Keep an eye on
our chefs: you might just see a pancake flying
through the kitchen!

up for free, we have enough electricity. Do
you need a loader, but you have not brought
one with you? Then you can borrow one of
ours for a temporary deposit of €15, which will
be added to your bill. When you hand in the
loader, we will take the deposit off your bill.

‘Bij de Neut’ was built through new techniques
that are ‘eco-friendly’ and ‘ecological’. The solar
panels on the roof generate our electricity and
we collect rainwater to flush the toilets.
COOLING AND WARMING FROM THE EARTH
We also use geothermal energy. From deep in
the ground we pump up water, which we use

Development in the area of being energy
neutral continue to progress. Because of this
we have decided to work alongside the TU/e
who have opened a testing lab in our building,
in which they will generate energy from used
truck batteries. With this project, we hope that
in the future we can generate all of our own
energy.

And what could be more fun than celebrating your
birthday at ‘Bij de Neut’? Climbing, clambering,
sliding…
Mum and dad do not have to do anything. Our
enthusiastic children’s party team organises the
whole party in a theme that you, the birthday boy/
girl wants (see below). And maybe you will even
receive a visit of Pete the Pirate or Renske the clown!
As a birthday kid you deserve a spot on our ‘wall
of fame’. We will make a nice photo of you dressed
up on the throne and if you wish, all of your friends
can come on the photo with you. This way, every
time you come to ‘Bij de Neut’, you can show your
granddad, grandma or favourite auntie the photo.

This building has a long history. And no one
knows the story better than the grandmother
of the co-owner Willem Neutkens, Corrie
Neutkens-van Beers. Corrie is now 86 years old
and lives at the Hofhuys in Bergeijk.
Corrie: “In 1952, my husband, Willy and I,
rented the building from his auntie for 15
florins a week. We opened a small store,
where we sold heaters, household products
and three bikes.
After a few years we stopped selling heaters
and household products and decided to focus
more on the bikes. Around 1956, the moped
was introduced and because everyone wanted
one, we decided to add them to our range. In
1958, motorbikes became very popular and
Willy was very fond of them, he became the
specialist in motorbikes whilst I managed the
normal bikes.
It was hard work back then. During the day in
the store and in the evening we had to do the
administration whilst looking after a family of
five children. However, I did enjoy doing it and
wouldn’t change a thing.
In 1964, our store was too small, so we
expanded it by adding an extra room. At
Motorpaleis Neutkens, the customer was
number one. A lot of the time our last
customer only left at 23.00 h. Back then, we
didn’t own a car, so I had to cycle to Eindhoven
for spare parts for the motorbike. At a certain
age we decided we were too old and our son
Jan took over the business.
After we moved to Veldhoven with our shop,
the family Beukers bought the building. I
believe it’s very appropriate that Willem, Jan’s
son and my grandson, together with Bart and
the family Beukers, have given the building a
new lease of life.
