On behalf of all GVB staff I wish you a very warm welcome to Amsterdam. We are looking forward to see you in
our GVB trams, metro’s and busses and proud to accommodate your journey from/to RAI-IBC 2014 and throughout
our wonderful city of Amsterdam.
In this leaflet you will find some useful information about our Public Transport system during IBC 2014. We offer
maximum capacity during rush hours on tramline 4 and we recommend you to travel by metro 51. This is the fastest
(± 17 minutes) and most convenient connection between Central Station <–> RAI.
We hope you will have a very successful IBC 2014 and enjoy Amsterdam. We are looking forward to meet you again

Travelling by tram and bus
In trams and buses the card readers are located near the driver or
conductor and near all exit doors. Just hold your card against it to
check in when you enter the vehicle and check out when leaving.
If you check in properly you will hear one beep and the reader
shows a green light. When you check out as you leave a tram or
bus, you will hear two beeps and the reader shows a green light.
Travelling by metro (M 51, 50, 53 & 54)
This card is very easy to use. The only thing you have to remember
always check in and always check out at the card readers every
time you get on or off any GVB vehicle.
Gates are located at the entrances and exits of most underground
stations. The card reader is on the right-hand side of each gate. If
you check in or check out properly, the gate will open. There are
no gates at the metro stops in Amstelveen or on the platforms at
Duivendrecht, and Amstel Station. Instead there are yellow card
readers that you can use to both check in or out.
