wages and benefits. (99% of
carpenters are men…wages average
$18.72/hr.; 98% of preschool teachers are
women…wages average $11.48/hr.—or
the teacher would have to work 25 more
hours/week to match the carpenter’s
income.)
Why Green Jobs for Women?
 Women can start with any
skill level. (Women with a high
school education to those with
advanced degrees. . .or with diverse
aptitudes ranging from mathematics
to mechanics to management can
find a niche in the green economy. )
For instance – One Study of
Green Employers in Berkeley, CA. . .
found that 86% of the green
business owners interviewed
hired workers who had no
previous direct experience and
94% offered on-the-job training
to entry-level employees.

green employment and training
