Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro
his father-in-law, the priest of Midian, and he
led the flock to the far side of the wilderness
and came to Horeb, the mountain of God.
There the angel of the Lord appeared to him
in flames of fire from within a bush.

over and see this strange sight—why the bush

land you promised on oath to their

the burden is too heavy for me. If this is
how you are going to treat me, please go
ahead and kill me — if I have found favor

Why is the Lord bringing us to this land only
to let us fall by the sword? Our wives and
children will be taken as plunder. Wouldn’t it
be better for us to go back to Egypt?” And
