ARE YOU READY?
Sometimes we can have good intentions on being
ready to serve God, but it doesn’t always work
out how we initial planed.
Luke 22:33 But he said to Him, "Lord, I am ready
to go with You, both to prison and to death." 34
Then He said, "I tell you, Peter, the rooster shall
not crow this day before you will deny three
times that you know Me."
Luke 22:55 Now when they had kindled a fire in the midst
of the courtyard and sat down together, Peter sat among
them. 56 And a certain servant girl, seeing him as he sat
by the fire, looked intently at him and said, "This man was
also with Him." 57 But he denied Him, saying, "Woman, I
do not know Him." 58 And after a little while another saw
him and said, "You also are of them." But Peter said,
"Man, I am not!" 59 Then after about an hour had passed,
another confidently affirmed, saying, "Surely this fellow
also was with Him, for he is a Galilean." 60 But Peter
said, "Man, I do not know what you are saying!"
Immediately, while he was still speaking, the rooster
crowed. 61 And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. And
Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He had said
to him, "Before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three
times." 62 So Peter went out and wept bitterly.
We are taught to follow in the footsteps of Jesus:
1 Peter 2:21 For to this you were called, because
Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example,
that you should follow His steps:
One of the first things we must do is deny
ourselves:
Matthew 16:24 Then Jesus said to His disciples,
"If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny
himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.
Mark 10:17 Now as He was going out on the road, one
came running, knelt before Him, and asked Him, "Good
Teacher, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?"
18 So Jesus said to him, "Why do you call Me good? No
one is good but One, that is, God. 19 "You know the
commandments: 'Do not commit adultery,' 'Do not
murder,' 'Do not steal,' 'Do not bear false witness,' 'Do not
defraud,' 'Honor your father and your mother.' " 20 And
he answered and said to Him, "Teacher, all these things I
have kept from my youth." 21 Then Jesus, looking at him,
loved him, and said to him, "One thing you lack: Go your
way, sell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you
will have treasure in heaven; and come, take up the cross,
and follow Me." 22 But he was sad at this word, and went
away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.
We cannot serve money and God at the same
time.
Job 1:21 "Naked I came from my mother's womb,
And naked shall I return there.
Matthew 10:37 "He who loves father or mother
more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who
loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy
of Me.
God cannot be second in our life, He must be first!
Can you think of anything that you put in front of
God?
Is there anything that robs you of your time you
spend with Him in prayer, reading His Word,
attending Bible class or worship service?
The Bible also tells us to be ready to give an
answer:
1 Peter 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your
hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to
everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that
is in you, with meekness and fear;
We must make time to get into God’s Word.
KJV 2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself
approved unto God, a workman that needeth not
to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Hosea 4:1 Hear the word of the LORD, You children of
Israel, For the LORD brings a charge against the
inhabitants of the land: "There is no truth or mercy Or
knowledge of God in the land. 2 By swearing and lying,
Killing and stealing and committing adultery, They break
all restraint, With bloodshed upon bloodshed. 3 Therefore
the land will mourn; And everyone who dwells there will
waste away With the beasts of the field And the birds of
the air; Even the fish of the sea will be taken away. 4
"Now let no man contend, or rebuke another; For your
people are like those who contend with the priest. 5
Therefore you shall stumble in the day; The prophet also
shall stumble with you in the night; And I will destroy
your mother. 6 My people are destroyed for lack of
knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also
will reject you from being priest for Me; Because you have
forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your
children.
I challenge you to start making more time for
studying God’s Word so that you can be ready to
give an answer.
The Bible says to be ready to preach the gospel.
2 Timothy 4:1 I charge you therefore before God and the
Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead
at His appearing and His kingdom: 2 Preach the word! Be
ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke,
exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. 3 For the
time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine,
but according to their own desires, because they have
itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; 4
and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be
turned aside to fables. 5 But you be watchful in all things,
endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill
your ministry.
Romans 1:15 So, as much as is in me, I am ready
to preach the gospel to you who are in Rome also.
One thing that helped Paul to be ready to preach
the gospel:
Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel
of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation
for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and
also for the Greek. 17 For in it the righteousness
of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is
written, "The just shall live by faith."
Are you ashamed of the gospel or are you willing
to boldly proclaim the Word of God to a world
that is lost in their sins?
Are you ready to take stand for God’s Word and
let your voice be heard?
Are you ready to tell people what the Bible
teaches about homosexuality and other sins of
the Bible or are you ashamed of God’s Word?
Mark 8:38 "For whoever is ashamed of Me and My
words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of
him the Son of Man also will be ashamed when
He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy
angels."
God wants every person to hear His word and
have the chance to repent.
2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning His
promise, as some count slackness, but is
longsuffering toward us, not willing that any
should perish but that all should come to
repentance.
1 Timothy 2:3 For this is good and acceptable in
the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all
men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of
the truth.
