 York University is provides accessible education and as a result is
highly diverse.
Our student body is dramatically different from other Ontario
universities in many ways.
 York has a relatively high proportion of
– female students;
– older students; and
– students from historically disadvantaged groups including –
visible minorities, and first generation students
 York students are also more likely to be studying part-time

York Students Work While Studying
 The estimated family incomes of York students are among the lowest
in the province.
 A large majority of our students spend a great deal of time working for
pay.
 At the same time, they are risk averse with a lower proportion
applying for OSAP and graduating with debt.
